Commemorating an Occasion – 2007
As a 75th Anniversary only ever comes around once, we decided to commemorate this very special occasion in May 2007 by commissioning some very special souvenirs and artifacts including all participating boats flying a commemorative “ICC Anniversary Flag”.
After being granted permission by the Lord Lyon, we were granted the privilege of being able to print the Lion Rampant on our Club Burgee. As a Scottish Club, no anniversary of this magnitude would be complete without a specially commissioned 75th anniversary whisky. We also had embroidered tee-shirts with the anniversary logo and boat name.
The main event was a flotilla sail to the Tall Ship in Glasgow, the SV Glenlee. Weatherwise, it was a wet and blustery day but true to form, many boats battled through and headed up-river to the canting basin in Govan, in convoy with boats from Strathclyde Fire & Rescue and our honorary members, the cadets from the Renfrew Town Sea Scouts.
An evening reception was held on the Glenlee with guests and visitors associated with ICC where a great evening was had by one and all. This included a whisky tasting session provided by Diageo. Safe transport to and from the canting basin was kindly supplied by the Sea Scouts. The Club is grateful to our many sponsors for this event culminating in an exciting end of evening auction and prize raffle. Vessels in attendance were:
Arcturus, Buckie Lugger, Caitlin of Argyll, Castaway, Dream Catcher, Drifter, Emma Kay, Green Flash, Grouse, Keva of Clyde, Marna, MV Beryl, Salient, Sayonara, Selene of Clyde, Solan, Te Bheag, Vida Loca.
